11 West Clare Groups Benefit from KCU Community Fund

Kilrush Credit Union is delighted to announce the recipients of its 2026 Community Fund, with funding awarded to 11 organisations across West Clare. The fund was established to support projects and initiatives that make a positive difference within our communities and reflects the credit union's ongoing commitment to cooperation, community development and local wellbeing. The Community Fund is open to community groups, clubs, associations and not-for-profit organisations working within our common bond area and supports projects that deliver tangible benefits for local people.

This year's recipients represent a diverse range of community activities, from sport and education to culture, heritage and community development:

  • Kilkee Golf Club
  • Doonbeg International Jazz Festival
  • Knockerra National School
  • Carrigaholt Development Association
  • St Kieran's Community Centre
  • Kilrush Rangers AFC
  • Shannon Gaels GAA Club
  • Killimer GAA Club
  • West Clare Currach Club
  • Kilrush Bridge Club
  • Kilrush Rugby Club

The Community Fund reflects a member-led decision taken at Kilrush Credit Union's 2024 AGM. Rather than distributing a small dividend that would have had limited impact for individual members, members chose to invest those funds back into our community. Through the Community Fund, that investment now supports local organisations, projects and facilities that will benefit thousands of people across West Clare.

Commenting on the awards, Claire Neylon said:

"At Kilrush Credit Union, supporting our communities is at the heart of everything we do. We were delighted by the quality and variety of applications received this year and are proud to support organisations that provide opportunities, services and activities that enrich life across West Clare. These groups are driven by dedicated volunteers whose work strengthens our communities every day, and we are honoured to play a small part in helping them achieve their goals."

The funded projects span a broad range of community interests, including sport and physical activity, youth engagement, education, community development and cultural initiatives, all of which align with the objectives of the Community Fund.

Kilrush Credit Union would like to thank every organisation that applied and acknowledge the invaluable contribution made by community groups and volunteers throughout the region. Their dedication continues to make West Clare a vibrant place to live, work and raise a family.
