Local Teams Shine at National Credit Union Schools Quiz Final
It was a proud and memorable day for Kilrush and West Clare as two quiz teams from St Senan's Primary School competed at the National Credit Union Schools Quiz Final, held on Sunday, following months of hard work and study.
The journey to the national stage began back in February, when more than 25,000 students from schools across Ireland took part in the first round of the competition. After progressing through local and regional stages, both local teams earned their place among the finalists — a remarkable achievement in itself.
At Sunday’s national final, 58 teams competed in each age category, representing the very best from across the country. Both teams delivered outstanding performances, achieving scores that placed them jointly among the top ten highest‑scoring teams in their respective age categories.
With multiple teams tied on scores at this level, the result highlights just how competitive the final was — and how impressive it was for our local students to finish within the top tier nationally.
The Credit Union Schools Quiz is designed to encourage curiosity, teamwork and learning, and the dedication shown by both teams throughout the competition was a credit to their schools, families and teachers. Their incredible achievement was celebrated by all who attended, with a great sense of pride felt throughout the local community.
Speaking after the event, Kilrush Credit Union praised the students for their hard work and determination, noting that reaching — and excelling at — the national final is a moment they will remember for years to come.
“We are immensely proud of both teams. To progress from a starting point of over 25,000 students nationwide and finish among the highest‑scoring teams in Ireland is an outstanding achievement. They represented their schools and community brilliantly, and the support shown for one another throughout the day was wonderful to see.”
The national final marked the culmination of months of preparation, teamwork and learning, and the experience — from travelling to the event to competing on the national stage — will no doubt stay with the students long into the future.
Kilrush Credit Union congratulates both teams, their teachers and families on an exceptional achievement and looks forward to continuing its long‑standing support of local schools and young people through initiatives such as the Credit Union Schools Quiz.
