Community Impact

Our Community Fund supports local groups and organisations who are making a real difference across our common bond. Now in it's second year, we invest in new and proposed community projects that promote inclusion, cooperation and community development — from shared spaces and youth initiatives to sport, wellbeing and sustainability.

Through a fair and transparent process, we’re proud to support practical, community-led projects that help local ideas turn into positive, lasting impact.

We are proud to sponsor access to StudyClix for every student attending the two secondary schools within our common bond — Kilrush Community School and Kilkee Community College. StudyClix is an online learning platform that provides study tools, revision resources and exam support, helping students prepare with confidence. By supporting this initiative, we aim to ease some of the pressure on students and families during critical academic years while ensuring equal access to high-quality learning supports.

Our Student Bursary programme supports students from within our common bond as they progress to further and higher education. The bursary aims to recognise effort, ambition, and community connection, while helping to ease some of the financial pressures associated with education. It reflects our belief in investing in local talent and future generations.

We are delighted to be sponsoring the delivery of personalised Knook Books to 17 primary schools within our common bond. The joy and excitement on the children’s faces has been a truly heart-warming experience. Supporting reading and education from an early age is something we are very proud to champion, and this initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to learning, literacy and opportunity within our community.

In early 2023, Kilrush Credit Union began working with Kilrush Youth Reach, delivering money management sessions and engaging with students around real-life financial challenges. From those conversations grew a collaborative community project, developed in partnership with Vandeleur Walled Garden, that gave students hands-on, real-world experience while contributing something meaningful to the wider community. Kilrush Credit Union proudly supported the project through funding and active involvement, helping to create an eco-friendly, pollinator-focused space that serves as both a green amenity and a living classroom. Through planning, budgeting, design, woodwork and horticulture, students developed practical skills, confidence and a strong sense of environmental responsibility. The finished space is a vibrant, welcoming area for visitors of all ages — and a lasting example of what can be achieved when community, education and sustainability come together.

The Credit Union Schools Quiz is a long-standing tradition that brings schools together in a fun, inclusive learning environment. By hosting and supporting the quiz locally, we encourage teamwork, general knowledge, and confidence among students, while also fostering a sense of community pride and participation.

Our annual Art Competition gives members of our community, of all ages, the opportunity to express their creativity while engaging with their local credit union. It’s a celebration of imagination and individuality, and a chance for children to see their work recognised and valued within the community.
